Visa and Arrival
If you are moving to Frankfurt or Mainz for your PhD and you are not a German citizen, you will need to arrange a few things prior to your arrival and/or shortly thereafter.
First and foremost, you should discuss with the IMPRS coordinator what arrangements need to be made, and take a look at administrative matters, such as insurance, visa and any questions you may have.
There may be more rules and regulations in Germany than you are used to – not without reason do the Germans have the reputation of being bureaucratic. Do not be disheartened; you will soon negotiate the initial hurdles and we will be happy to help you throughout your residence and in finding your way around Frankfurt and Mainz.
